The Ann Arbor Concert Band has about 75 members. While a few members have musical backgrounds, the majority play for the fun of it. Member ages range from college student to retiree. Most of our members live in the Ann Arbor area, but some come as far as Milan, Jackson and Mount Clemens.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are Monday nights from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. beginning the first Monday
after Labor Day ending with the Monday following our last concert of the season (when
we have our Annual Business Meeting and Potluck).
Rehearsals are held in the Huron High School Band Room (2727 Fuller Rd, Ann Arbor).
When Huron is not available, rehearsals are moved to Forsythe Middle School (1655
Newport Rd, Ann Arbor).
Instructions for Forsythe Middle School Band Room:
Park in the "South Lot" - it is the first parking lot that you come to if you are headed
down Newport from Miller. Enter the red doors, turn right at the very first hallway
(where the vending machines are). Room number 103 before the cafe.

Dues/folder fees
Annual dues are $30. Dues are waived for current students. Checks are payable to Ann
Arbor Concert Band. Please plan on paying your dues by the end of September (or
upon joining).
A special concert folder deposit is collected when you first join the band. The concert
folder deposit is $10. The folder deposit is good each year you are a member. The
deposit is refunded when you leave the band.
Attendance Policy
Attendance is taken at each rehearsal. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal you
should notify your section leader. It is recommended that you not miss more than one
rehearsal per concert.
Auditions
There is no formal audition required to join the band. The Music Director will probably ask
to meet with you upon joining though to determine your playing level so you can be
seated accordingly.
We do hold band-wide, informal auditions every other year as a chance for the Music
Director to get to know you better as well as for you to get to know the Director better.
They are generally held at the beginning of the season and are usually conducted one-
on-one with the Director.
Concert Dress
We have a formal concert attire as follows:
Woman: Black skirt or slacks (no short skirts), black blouse, black shoes.
Men: Black suit or tux, white shirt, black bow tie, black shoes and socks.
